Greetings! I've created this blog to share information with you about my upcoming trip to Kisii, Kenya, where I'll be volunteering as a teacher during the summer of 2010. I invite you to read, comment on, and support my efforts to offer the children at this school the power to reach higher.
In 2004 I moved to South Africa to teach theatre arts at the American International School of Cape Town. While I was there I was privileged to live, learn, and teach beside some of the most beautiful people I had ever met. My passion to teach led me back to New York City, where I decided to obtain a Masters in Education from Bank Street College of Education.Hope's Hope
In 2008 while volunteering at St. Francis Xavier Church in New York City, I found out about an opportunity to volunteer as a teacher at the Father Joseph Oucho School for Girls in Kisii, Kenya. Since then, I have been developing a curriculum entitled, Taking Flight, which will explore the power and endurance of the human spirit through literature and theatre arts. It is my hope to share these educational ideas, cultural beliefs and customs, with the students at this school.
Give Hope a Hand
